Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathy in Walton on the Hill

Cranial osteopathy is the name given to a subtle and refined approach to osteopathy that follows all the principles of osteopathy, and it is used throughout the whole body, including the head.

Cranial osteopaths use a highly developed sense of touch to feel subtle changes of tension and tissue quality in the body, and to diagnose areas of strain or dysfunction.

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, safe and effective approach to treatment, using gentle and specific support where it is needed to bring the tissues into a state of balance and release, helping restore them towards health. It is a suitable form of treatment for people of all ages.

In a research study by Clive Hayden (2006) into the effects of cranial osteopathic treatment on babies, some parents perceived the following changes in their children’s behaviour: reduced colicy crying, improved sleep, less unsettled irritable behaviour and increased quiet happy spells.

Cranial osteopathy can also be beneficial in easing some of the general aches and pains associated with pregnancy, and helping to resolve postural strains arising following pregnancy and delivery of the baby.
